Our Little Story On What Makes Our Gourmet Jams Different

It's the Fruit. If I were to take you for a short drive around our Jam Shop, you would be amazed at how well the raspberries, apples, blackberries and plums (to name a few) all thrive in this area. In our Northeast Iowa and Southwest Wisconsin location, we are all pleased the glaciers missed us as evidenced by the high bluffs and deep, fertile valleys which are fed by thousands of springs and trout streams that race their way down to the Mississippi River.. Wild berries never had it so good!

We like quality ingredients and small batches. Every singular batch (25- 8 ounce jars) of jam begins with a familiar process: ten pounds of the best fruit followed by pure cane sugar, some freshly squeezed lemons (add a slight acid to help the jam set) and good old apple based pectin... where's the water you may ask? It's in the fruit!

Where we choose to stay small and keep quality high, the more widely distributed grocery store jams are often made in cavernous batches (that's how flavor gets lost) with less expensive sweeteners and far less fruit. In many cases, the fruit that is used is often what didn't pass quality checks for sale in a grocery store! Comparatively, we are a micro-producer using first quality fruit and selling our delicious jams directly through our store, the net and to other gourmet stores nationwide- but really, that is exactly where we want to be. We invite you to taste the difference!

The Favorites. In our many years of production, we have found that the Apricot with vanilla bean jam is a top seller. It is no wonder because we use fresh vanilla beans added to the jam while it is cooking and once the beans are supple we remove the little seeds and add them to the jam. These are the little black bits you see and that is where the delicious vanilla flavor comes from- it's in each and every jar!

The Four Sisters Jam is another favorite- it is our version of the four berry jam and it is packed with fresh fruit that is flavorful and chunky, just the way you like it!

Old Bachelor's Jam- we're not sure if it's the label that makes it so popular but it's a delicious jam as well, check our store and see what goes in the all time favorite!

Anything with chocolate. Our two sauces are fudgy, natural and delicious and can be microwaved if you want the sauce to be more syrup like. It will make any ice cream taste like it's home made!

Joe Spencer Dolls/ Gallerie II creates amazing soft sculptures of dolls that are known for their funny and whimsical expressions. Having them around the shop always makes customers smile with their funny looks and really interesting names.
